Historical Background
DFHAS was granted non-profit status in 1989 to help promote art and culture on the Gerogetown Divide with plans to open a gallery and museum in the town of Georgetown CA. One of its primary missions was to fund a scholarship program for graduating seniors that were continuing their education in the arts at the college level. The AODC Gallery first opened in a historic building on Main Street in Georgetown, CA in 2010 as an artist-run cooperative gallery and then partnered with DFAHS in 2013 because of our shared vision to help the arts thrive on the Divide. Our scholarships are funded through our annual membership drive, donations and sales of Terry Green’s remaining inventory of stained glass. The scholarship was renamed the Terry Green Art Scholarship in 2021 in honor of Terry, who passed away in a tragic auto accident. He was a dedicated member and talented stained glass artist. Upon his passing, his family donated his remaining art to be sold to support the scholarship. There are a few remaining pieces and we honor his legacy with the scholarship annually.
Fast forward to 2026…changes on the horizon....
To keep our scholarship fund thriving, we need your support. Please use the links below to find the right level of sponsorhip that suits you or your business. Our next round of awardees is April 2026. The scholarship fund was healthy in 2025 and we are happy to report that we honored three senior students $1,500 each to continue their focus on the arts in college. With the desire to offer more services to the community we need additional help to expand on our workshop offerings, featured artists events, and gallery receptions. There will be upcoming gallery changes due to the death of the owner, but we are hopeful that we can continue to operate in Historic Downtown. As a non-profit we have a very lean budget to work with, and any additional contributions will go a long way to helping us maintain stability. As options present themselves, we will keep our supporters updated.

The Historical Rose Garden, directly behind the gallery is another project that DFAHS members and the community support. Each year members and volunteers work to maintain and make improvements to the garden that is home to more thatn 90 roses,m irises and several fruit trees. We have constructed walkways and patios to enable the public to enjoy the grounds and have used the garden to host many community events over the years. Currently we are working to identify and properly tag the roses for our visitors. The garden is frequently used in the spring and summer months by the AODC Gallery for various receptions. We invite you to visit anytime as we consider the gallery and its garden community assets.
