Featured artist, April, at AODC Gallery
Artist Nancy Quiaoit

AODC Gallery is proud to bring Nancy Hayden Quiaoit, as the featured artist for the month of April, back to the Divide.
Join us as we welcome Nancy at the artist’s reception on Saturday, April 6th, from 1-4 p.m.

A native of our area, Nancy is an accomplished artist that is widely recognized and particularly known for her mermaid paintings.  But, it’s not all mermaids as you will see when you visit the show.  She captures the ocean, women and children, playful animals, and flowers in very heart-warming ways.  This is a show not to be missed.

Nancy was lucky enough to grow up in a creative home in Garden Valley, CA. Her mother was an artist who inspired her.  As a young girl she spent time painting and drawing in the beautiful Georgetown area.   Her love for art never stopped. Nancy shares “I paint a lot of mermaids because I love women, the ocean and fantasy. Our oceans connect all life. The ocean is powerful yet fragile. I think women are like mermaids and the ocean in many ways. They are strong, give life, can be playful and soft while still being a force of nature. I like to capture their playfulness and ability to nurture.”

Nancy sells her paintings in galleries and to collectors.  To give a little insight into how far reaching her art is collected, she shares, “it’s been an honor to have my artwork published in magazines, books, on CD covers and used on Universal Studio and TLC sets.  I have large murals displayed in the California Bay Area.  And my mermaid paintings were also on display at the ADEX International show in Singapore, India, China, Indonesia and Egypt promoting plastic free oceans which is something I feel passionate about.”

Nancy currently resides in Northern California with her husband and two sons who support her artistic endeavors. When she’s not painting you will often find her teaching art classes for children and teens in her classroom.

There will be light refreshments and beverages to enjoy as you visit with Nancy on April 6th between 1 and 4 pm.  AODC Gallery is located at 6295 Main Street in historic Georgetown, Ca.  follow us on facebook and at www.artonthedivide.com

The Terry Green Memorial Scholarship fund honors Divide Seniors pursuing art in college with one or more $1,000. scholarships each year.  These funds are, in part, made up of money generated from the sale of Terry's artwork that was so generously donated by his family.  The current featured selection that we have is "Granny's Plate".  It is being offered in February at a special price of $175.00.  The original price was $215.00.  All proceeds from the sale of Terry's art glass pieces will go to the scholarship fund.

AODC Celebrates more than a decade on the Divide, your local source for gifts and fine art...

We are excited that we will be able to celebrate our 14th Anniversary on the Divide this June with a continued celebration of the Arts

AODC gallery currently has twelve local artists.  As time has progressed our roster of active artists has changed as artists have joined or leave for various reasons.   The one constant thing is the collavorative spirit in which we operate to help the arts thrive on The Divide. The gallery is always open to artists that provide something new and different.  If you, or someone you know is looking to join the gallery , the application and information regarding membership is available here...

AODC artists continue to "refresh" the gallery monthly with new art.  Providing the community with workshops to teach various art techniques and receptions to showcase the art are typical of our monthly offerings.   We welcome feedback from the community to help us plan workshops.  What would you like to learn?  Past workshops have included jewelry, stained glass, mask making, collage and rose-pruning.Directly behind the gallery is a historic rose garden that is maintained by the artists.  We have been fortunate to have the Divide Garden Club help with rose-pruning, and hope to continue with that collaboration.  They have also been generous in awarding the gallery many years of grants to help with this maintenance.AODC gallery is pleased to provide a space for local student art, under the leadership of Susan Sasano, a local volunteer.  She reaches out to our local schools and will switch out the artwork regularly.
